Unity COVID-19 Message of Support

With the recent news about the spread of COVID-19, we have grown increasingly concerned about the impact on the community. We understand that this is a difficult time with not only demand for goods and services curtailing but enforced restrictions on how we can do business.

Unity Tech Group and Unity Biz Group have implemented several measures for support and help for any companies that need assistance during this unprecedented time. All the Unity Tech businesses are open as usual, working tirelessly through this period to provide the best product and services for their customers.

Below is a compiled list of measures and government guidance that can help your businesses with funding and grants to keep you going. We hope this provides you with the necessary resources to pick you up at this moment.

Business Rate Holiday

A business rate retail holiday for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses in England will be introduced for the 2020 to 2021 tax year.

A £25,000 grant will be provided to retail, hospitality and leisure businesses operating from smaller premises, with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000. Any inquiries on eligibility for, or provision of, the reliefs should be directed to the relevant local authority.

Business Interruption Loan Scheme

Obtaining finance from lenders should become more accessible due to a government guarantee of 80% on each loan to give lenders further confidence in continuing to provide finance to SMEs. The government will not charge businesses or banks for this guarantee, and the Scheme will support loans of up to £5 million in value. Businesses can access the first 6 months of that finance interest-free, as the government will cover the first 6 months of interest payments.Tax breaksAll businesses in financial distress, and with outstanding tax liabilities, may be eligible to receive support with their tax affairs through HMRC’s Time to Pay service. These arrangements are agreed on a case-by-case basis and are tailored to individual circumstances and liabilities.

Furloughing staff

The government will be supporting businesses that need to furlough staff who would otherwise have to be made redundant. The employer will be eligible to claim a grant of up to 80% of the wage bill for those employees, up to a cap of £2,500 per month. The employees remain employed during the furlough period.

We want to say a big thank you to all our employees and businesses for adapting well to the change in the situation.

In addition to everyone at Unity Group Ltd we want to wish you all the best, and stay safe and rest assured, if we can help we will try, but if we can’t tell you our companies are willing to point you to somewhere that can.

Stay safe
